While his practice is essentially before the
German Patent and Trademark Office,
European Patent Office,
International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the
European Union Intellectual Property Office,
T.K. Verscht also appears before the Federal Patent Court as well as the German Civil Courts in patent, trademark and design patent matters.
Besides German and an extensive knowledge of Latin, T.K. Verscht speaks fluent English and French, as well as conversational Russian and Japanese.
T.K. Verscht is solely responsible for advising and counseling management in licensing, unfair competition, antitrust, employees’ rights to invention and litigation matters. He is particularly skilled at drafting, filing and prosecution of German and foreign patent applications, including International and European patent applications.
T.K. Verscht has expertise in all general technical fields including physics, electronics, mechanics, optics, computer (software and hardware), Internet and digital technology, telecommunications, RF technology, nanotechnology, medical technology, television and video technology, applied thermodynamics, electro-mechanical devices, automotive parts, household appliance, chemical formulations and business methods.
T.K. Verscht graduated from the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, in 1992 with a Diploma Degree in Physics ("summa cum laude"). He was awarded prestigious federal scholarships ("Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes", "German Academic Exchange Service") for his studies in physics and mathematics. T.K. Verscht was also selected as an exchange student to study Physics as a third-year undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, England, from 1990 to 1991. His Diploma thesis work in laser physics was conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics under the supervision of Prof. Theodor W. Haensch (Nobel Laureate 2005). While pursuing his Diploma studies, T.K. Verscht also gained valuable industrial experience while working at Siemens Corporation. His work included software programming and encryption.
After having completed his Diploma, T.K. Verscht commenced his patent law studies while working at a Munich law firm and qualified in 1997 as one of the youngest German patent attorneys. After qualification, T.K. Verscht immediately founded his own law firm. His solid commitment to quality work has enabled him to expand successfully with continually increasing clientele. Many start-up corporations have continued to use the services of his office after merging or consolidating to form much larger corporations. In this way, our clients have reciprocated the level of commitment we have provided to them.
Besides having given a large number of lectures at the university, before Research and Development Departments and other interested circles, T.K. Verscht has gained thorough insight in the start-up and value assessment of companies through him being a member of the jury board and coach of a business plan competition for several years.
T.K. Verscht is also involved in advising university professors in relation to their intellectual property concerns. We consider it important to maintain university relations since this enables us to gain better understanding and knowledge in new and emerging technologies. Further, we believe in the importance of keeping abreast of current legal theories by playing an active role in the community, whether by attending domestic and international conferences or lecturing, so that our clients or international associates, are kept informed on current law as well as its developments.
